The Huayen School is based on the Avatamsaka or "Flower Adornment" Sutra, and counts as one of the eight major Mahayana schools of Chinese Buddhism. From its beginnings in the seventh century the Huayen lineage has continued down to the present day. The Huayen teachings emphasize the integration of Buddhist practice with all aspects of life and Ven. Haiyun believes that they are particularly suitable for the modern age.
