FAQ & Helps

Listed here are some frequently asked questions and answers regarding to how to use this website.

Please tell us any of your problems here and site admin will reply ASAP.

If you want to post some photos of activities of HYBC-NA or your local branch, this post is for you.

All photos in our photo album posted on this site are stored at Flickr instead of on our HYBC-NA webspace. Therefore, to post photos on huayen.org, you need to learn how to play with Flickr. You upload your photos to Flickr, and our website just call and display them.

By default, formatted editor is activated for user posting on this site. Therefore, if you directly hit 'Enter' key when you finish inputing a paragraph, you will get a large (therefore bad-looking) distance between two paragraphs.

To overcome this problem, please simultaneously hit 'Shift + Enter' instead of a single 'Enter', and you will get normal paragraph space.

Due to the newly adopted meta tag system, the possibility of HYBC-NA website to be targeted by famous internet search engins, such as google, yahoo, baidu, will be greatly increased, which will be very helpful in propagating our site.

You can also easily make your post 'known' on the internet! To do this, just input some relevant keywords under the 「Meta Tags」tab below the body input field. Generally after a period of time since your post submission, someone may find your post if he/she happenly input one of your keywords.

There no locale tab for selecting language when you reply a post, and the language of your reply depends on your currently selected browsing language.

Therefore, if you want to post bilingual reply, you have to reply separately under each language. For example, if you only reply under English, your reply will not show under Chinese unless you reply it again under Chinese.

Suppose you already published a post in English, and now you want to create a counterpart version of it in Chinese. Simple as breeze!

At the top of posting page, there is a Locale tab for drop-down selection, shown as following:

Here three options are available:

This site was built bilingually using English and (Traditional) Chinese.

Visitors can freely switch back and fro between English and Chinese by clicking the and buttons.

If visitors do not purposely clicked language-switching buttons, the site language is automatically set in following two situations:

Some access permissions are not granted to anonymous visitors. In general, anonymous visitors can only browse most part of this site, but can not participate activities on the site.

You can obtain a personal account through registration. After login, you can obtain following access permissions:

Dear Friends,

As far as I can tell, your San Jose center does not seem to be running. Are there any centers for study of Huayen in the San Jose/Santa Clara area here in California? I am very interested, after years of Theravada practice.

There are quite a few spam Forum Postings.

Hi there,

My name is Damian and i am writing from Melbourne Australia. I have, for a long time, been very interested in Hua Yan Buddhism and have just recently come across your organisation's details. Is there anyone i could contact to learn more about the tradition in Melbourne? It would be so fortunate to meet Dharma practitioners who are like-minded.

Dear Administer:

I found the formatting in the forum extremely difficult to use.

See the postings that I have been put up lately, the lines break-up is completely out of whack.

I spent hours to correct them without success. That is why the postings showed up so ugly. I gave up...
