Huayen Buddhist World Community, Toronto Chapter (HBWC-TC) is committed to controlling the collection, use and disclosure of personal information provided by its members and supporters.

What is personal information?

Personal information is information such as your name, residential address, phone number, e-mail address, donation history to HBWC- TC or banking information. Personal information is collected by HBWC- TC only when you specifically and knowingly choose to provide it to us, such as when you make a donation to HBWC- TC, or request information about HBWC- TC or our programs, events or when you purchase merchandise. Publicly available information, such as a public directory listing of your name, address, telephone number and electronic address, is not considered personal information.

Collection and Use of Personal Information

HBWC- TC collects and uses your personal information primarily for the purpose of communicating to you information about our programs or events, and soliciting donations.

We do not disclose your information to other organizations without your express and written consent.

Accuracy

HBWC- TC will try to ensure that information about you is accurate, complete and up-to-date. However, please inform HBWC- TC of any change of name, address or other information.

Security

Our volunteers are trained to respect your privacy at all times and those volunteers with access to your personal information shall use your personal information strictly in accordance with the HBWC- TC Privacy Policy and privacy laws.

If you have any questions about the collection, use or disclosure of your personal information by HBWC-MC, or if you simply want to know whether we have your personal information on file, you may contact the Privacy Compliance Officer (torontohuayen@hotmail.com). Except in limited circumstances, as specifically provided by applicable privacy legislation, HBWC-MC can tell you whether we hold personal information about you.
