If you want to post some photos of activities of HYBC-NA or your local branch, this post is for you.
All photos in our photo album posted on this site are stored at Flickr instead of on our HYBC-NA webspace. Therefore, to post photos on huayen.org, you need to learn how to play with Flickr. You upload your photos to Flickr, and our website just call and display them.
Currently, Flickr is the most powerful and popular free
online photo sharing service provided by Yahoo. If you already have a Flickr account, please skip step 1 and jump to step 2, Otherwise, please read carefully every step described below:
- Apply for a Flickr account.
You can use your current yahoo account for Flickr service.
Note: There are no space limits on how many pictures you can stored in your Flickr account, but only the first 200 pictures can be displayed for free account. Also, there is a monthly uploading limit of 100M for free account. So, I suggest you compress your photos before your upload. Also, if you have more than 200 pictures or you already exceed the monthly uploading limit, you have to split your pictures into more than one free Flickr accounts. Or, you can pay to upgrade to FlickrPro account. It's up to you.
- Upload your photos to Flickr
You can upload your photos one by one as you attach something to your email, but I recommend you download this Flickr upload tool to your computer, and use it to batch upload all of your photos to Flickr at one time. This software is provided by Flickr and is very convenient to use.
IMPORTANT:
(1) Make sure prescribe a 'Tag' for sorting the photos, and this tag is vital for our website to remotely sort and call these photos. DO NOT USE 'SET' to sort your photos.
(2) Make sure select 'Public', otherwise our site can not call your photos!
(3) Use one tag for all photos you will post together. For example, if you want to post photos of 2007 Detroit Chan meditation, you can use '2007DetroitChanMeditation' or something like that. I recommend you to use meaninful words for your tags, such as 2007TorontoPotLuck, 2006ChicagoConference, 2005DetroitLecture ........Please don't use space within tag name since it may cause problem when calling photos.
- Publish your photos on HYBC-NA website.
This step is very easy, but I do not grant post permissions to you at this time to avoid your confusion. You just need to send your Flickr user ID (just ID, no password
) and the tag name to me using the site contact form . I will use these two parameters to call and post your Flickr photos.

I'd like to emphasize again that please do not use space in your tag name.
For example, if you use '2007 Spring Chan Retreat' as the tag name, Flickr will automatically creates 4 tags for you: 2007, Spring, Chan, and Retreat. THis is not our expectation. Instead, please use '2007SpringChanRetreat' as the tag name.
