10am-2pm
Gallup Park, Ann Arbor, MI

According to ancient literature, Prince Siddhata (Sakyamuni Buddha) was born 2552 years ago on the 8th day of the forth lunar calendar month. In order to celebrate the birth of Buddha, there are celebration events every 8th day of the forth lunar calendar month.  People can cleanse through showering, clothing can be cleaned through washing, the true meaning of bathing the Buddha is to symbolize the cleansing of our inner Buddha; in other words, purifying our mind and spirit. As we bath the statue of the Buddha, we should sincerely pray to eliminate negative emotions such as desires, anger, and hatred. Furthermore, we should remind ourselves to keep emotions, behaviors, verbal interactions as well as minds pure and hope to improve the environment and society through constant practice of sincerity and compassion.
